Interested in providing childcare for organizations working to furthur social justice?

Join The DC Childcare Collective!

The DC Childcare Collective, a small all-volunteer group, is founded on the belief that mothers, women of color, and people with low income are critical leaders of healthy and effective social justice movements.

The DCCC provides free childcare to progressive groups working for social justice as an act of solidarity with social justice organizations in the DC metro area in order to make their work more accessible for people with childcare responsibilities who are most affected by the lack of affordable, quality childcare options.

It is our mission to make our childcare safe, fun, empowering, and available to families to support their work to further social and political change.

If you want to support families in DC working toward social change and if you like spending time with kids (even if you don’t have much experience) we would love to have you volunteer with us.

If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer application (posted on the Get Involved page ) and send it to dckids@gmail.com, or email us for a copy. We can let you know when we will be having our next new volunteer orientation.

If you have any questions or would like more information about the DCCC or any of the organizations that we work with, please feel free to email us and help us get the word out to anyone who may be interested!

Welcome to the DC Childcare Collective's website!

The DC Childcare Collective has been providing childcare to parents involved in social justice activism in DC since the summer of 2005. The Collective came together at the suggestion of community organizers working on campaigns involving tenant's rights, privatization of public spaces in DC, and affordable, high quality childcare for all. Since its inception the Collective has been committed to providing fun, safe, empowering and engaging childcare in a systematic fashion while being accountable to the parents, organizations and children we work with.
